Śnieżne Kotły is one of the most interesting and attractive routes in the Karkonosze Mountains.
They are a remnant of the glacier, and the formation of these regions was completed by nearly 12 thousand. years ago. The whole is a nature reserve located in the Karkonosze Landscape Park and from the top there are wonderful views of the Karkonosze and the Jizera Mountains.
They are situated in the Karkonosze Mountains in the Piechowice commune between Łabski Szczyt and Wielki Szyszak. In total, there are more post-glacial boilers in the Karkonosze Mountains. To the east there is the Czarny Kocioł Jagniątkowski, the Kocioł Małego Stawu, the Kocioł Wielkiego Stawu, and the Kocioł Łomniczki.
What's more, Śnieżne Kotły is characterized by an alpine climate and thus it is also the richest community of mountain flora, not only in the Karkonosze but also in the entire Sudetes. Rare species of alpine and arctic flora grow here and thus many protected and rare plant species. We can admire there not only nature, but also… snow, which can remain on their bottom until summer. We can observe it by walking along the green trail on the bottom of the boilers.
How to get to the top?
It is best to start your journey in Szklarska Poręba. The yellow trail can lead to the top and it takes about 3.25 hours - 8.4 km to cover it. The climb up this mountain is steep and tiring but the effort is worth it as the reward is beautiful views.
